Ugh, plastic bags.
The average American family takes home almost 1,500 plastic shopping bags a year. According to Waste Management, only 1 percent of plastic bags are returned for recycling, most end up in the ocean.
They're the worst and we're all guilty of using them.
No matter how many reusable bags we have in our car we somehow still manage to end up with bags and packaging piling up (I'm looking at your PR mailers, Amazon, Walmart and Target!).

We are pretty conscious about limiting plastic in a huge way, but somehow we've found ourselves with more packaging than usual courtesy of the current circumstances.
So...
Why Not Upcycle Your Plastic Bags Into Throw Pillow Inserts!
It's ridiculously easy and it's a more sustainable and cheaper way to fill your throw pillow covers...
Turn this...
Into This...
- Here's How To Do It -
1. Take your CLEAN plastic bags / packaging and gently stuff into a larger bag (I used Amazon fresh packaging and pillow case bags). It keeps all the small pieces together and contained for easy filling. If you’re using the pillows for outdoors it also allows for less cracks and crevices to retain water.
2. With the pillow covers of choice gently add insert into cover to fill to your comfort level. You can always add or remove until you determine how firm or soft you want your pillows.
Tips: Use amazon quilted pouches on sides to smooth out filling.
Save and Share if you have a pile of plastic bags that need reusing!
