With Spring among us it's the perfect time to hit the sale racks and grab a winter coat for next season, and I know what some of you might be thinking, especially if it's along the lines of "but they're last season" and my response is not necessarily being that most women's coats including pea coats can be timeless and always in style. Not to mention a lot of the trends from last season will be still on trend for next. Capes, red, and fur seem to be sticking around for an encore, for example. Just remember to keep shape, fit and length in mind when shopping for next season's (and the there after's) coat, classics never go out of style whereas uber trendy pieces only last a season or two.
If you're not in the mood for a new winter coat, trench coats (also found on sale racks) in eye popping colors like seafoam, cobalt and emerald seem to be on target for Spring 2011. As well as unexpected textures like denim, chiffon, and leather taking 'plain' khaki trenches to the next level.
All this talk about sales makes me 'hungry' for some shopping.

I always buy my winter coats in spring or summer lol. I hate it when people say "but it is from last season" Argh !!! All of my crap is from last season and no one notices. I think people should wear what they like no matter what. I actually heard or saw on a blog that someone thinks that certain colors are last season. I don't understand that one. I always thought colors are colors and it doesn't matter which one you wear at any time. They were talking about the color green and it boggled my mind. On another note, I know that neon could be debatable lol. sorry for long comment lol.
I think people should focus less on what's trending and more on what is part of their personal style and what works for them. Obviously incorporate some trends if you want but at the same time do what is 'in style for you'. And if that means buying jackets for next season from last season, and you love it, then so be it. As far as colors going out of style, I can understand them being not as popular for certain seasons but I saw emerald green earlier this morning gracing the runways when I wrote this post so it's still in style. :)
That's how I have sooooooooo many coats! Clearance!

Heads up to anyone with a JCPenney nearby ...
Yesterday, I bought three beautiful *heavy* military-style wool coats from the clearance rack. Regular $250 each ... on sale for $20 ... plus 30% off courtesy of a coupon. Ended up being $14 each and my receipt shows $708 in savings. There were also wool peacoats, and they're handing out coupons at the door if you don't already have one, so definitely worth a shot!
This is the style I got, in olive, blue and red: http://www.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?ItemId=19ca6b1&GrpTyp=SIZ
Will definitely have to blog about this score! ;)
