Since I grew up near the water in Florida, it only made sense that my first foods included lobster and calamari, among others. In turn making them my ideal comfort foods when needed, and up until now I only ordered calamari when I went out to eat and couldn't understand why I couldn't just do it at home, well, now I can, and who knew it'd be so simple...
What's your comfort food?
Fried Calamari - Serves 4 (As Meal)
1 Pound Calamari
(some people only care for the rings, I like both)
1/2 Cup Milk
1 Egg - Beaten
1/2 Cup Flour
1/4 Bread Crumbs - I used Panko
1 Tablespoon Garlic
1/2 Tablespoon Paprika
1/2 Tablespoon Pepper
1 Teaspoon Salt
Vegetable Oil - I don't recommend Olive Oil
1. Whisk the egg and milk together, add calamari and let 'soak' at least 5 minutes.
2. Next combine the flour, breadcrumbs and spices in a small/medium bowl.
3. Next, dip the calamari in the flour mixture ...
and fry until golden brown.
4. Serve with warm marinara or a homemade remoulade. Enjoy.
Yum, I love calamari. I'm loving your food/recipe posts! And thank goodness the recipe doesn't have MSG.
I can only eat the part of calamari that looks like the ring...the legs creep me out!

Thank Ladies, and Soychild, just so you know my recipes never include MSG (I'm Allergic) , Hydrogenated Oils and High Fructose Corn Syrup...
