When the makers of Proactiv's XOut reached out to me to DIY/Design a dress inspired by their new skincare line, I immediately jumped on board, not only was it a chance to do a little DIY/Designing but it was also for a great cause since we're auctioning off our dresses for 100% of the proceeds to go to Pacer's National Bullying Prevention Center.
After signing on board, I immediately got to brainstorming on how to incorporate the "X" in the design, I knew I wanted to cut the gifted American Apparel maxi off and dye the dress black because white felt too harsh. I toyed with ideas of using sequins, and feathers but ended up going with (faux) leather. At first glance, I thought the dress dying was going to be a bust especially after a few failed attempts with one brand, but was quickly remedied when I switched over to Dylon (If you need to dye clothes, use this, amazing saturated hues without boiling water!).
Left After Dylon, Right 4 RIT Attempts
Leather Trimming and Collar with Sketch
My end design was a black high-low mini with a (leather) peter pan esque collar, and an extreme low back trimmed with leather. What do you think?
And How I wore It-
Dress American Apparel/DIY, Tights & Sweater Old Navy, Shoes Vince Camuto, Bag Target, Ring H&M
This turned out absolutely amazing! I love the low back and how you incorporated the theme into the dress. Absolutely stunning!
KILLER job! I love it. The back is so sexy, and you are smokin hot in it!
