I don't know about you but I'm always looking for ways to create unique gifts for {myself,} family, and friends. And with Mother's Day coming up I want to do something outside of the usual of just sending flowers. So, when the custom jewelry service, Jevelo asked me to create a couple of pieces, I had to give it a shot - because spending under $99 for a personalized piece of jewelry over flowers that will die within the week, seems like a more practical and thoughtful thing to do. {See how to win a one of your own below!} I love how the Nordic company, founded by Master Goldsmith, Kristian Saarikorpi, uses traditional and modern methods of design and production. The finished pieces are high quality and beautiful, whether they're worn, or sitting on the dresser.
The best part? Anyone can do it. All you need is a little inspiration in image form and you're ready to create your own personalized design. You can save your favorite designs and share them with friends and family, or purchase and receive your custom design in 2-3 weeks. Also, Jevelo is actually pretty budget friendly, with stainless pieces pricing at just $69 and Silver for $99. Both come with a free chain and delivery to the US and EU. You can choose between engraved or cut out options and the pieces come in a variety of shapes to fit your own personal aesthetic. I kept it simple and went with a stainless rectangle and a silver square for my pieces.
The process of designing my own pieces was actually pretty effortless. I had to download the app, create an account, and get to work. The tough part was deciding what I wanted to create. I ended up creating a few and initially wanted to do a photo of my mom and, I but the picture just wasn't bright enough to make it work, so I ended up using one of my favorite pictures of David and I in the park. Who needs frames when you can make necklaces with your favorite moments? It took a couple of minutes to make sure it contrasted correctly for the engraving, but the end result was great. I love it.
As for the cut out piece I immediately knew the NYC skyline was my 'perfect fit'. Not only because I love our city but it has become such an essential part of our family. The design on this one was a little trickier since I had to use paper to get the job done the way I wanted. But the end result was perfection and put a huge smile on my face.
Wearing my new Jevelo masterpieces was simple. I chose to layer them on one chain instead of wearing two separate necklaces, so they could be together. Which, I am really loving as a unique layering piece for my spring wardrobe - style with meaning anyone? From afar they look like cute pendants on a chain but up close you see two things that make my heart flutter on a daily basis. I'm officially hooked.
