I have spotted quite a few new additions to the fall booties selection this season, so I have been motivated to step out of my usual ankle and over-the-knee comfort zone and try something new. Meet the mid-calf bootie. Aside from over the knee styles, this is the boot silhouette of choice this season. It’s surprisingly flattering, even on my short little legs and comes in a pretty broad selection of different styles. The variety goes all the way from western styles with fringe, to block-heeled mod styles in a shiny patent leather. While I’m all for the mod look I couldn’t help but love this pointed toe, wrap-around tie detailed tan nubuck pair by Steve Madden (Gaybel). They are just tall enough to give my 5’3 frame a little extra height and are surprisingly REALLY comfortable. Wear them bare-legged or with a cropped pair of skinnies, like this high waisted, slightly distressed pair from Joe’s jeans. This pair, the Wasteland Ankle in Jerri is from the Joe’s Flawless collection. It lifts and hides any imperfections for an extremely flattering fit. I’m all for the comfy, wear-all-day stretch denim and the lightly distressed hand-sanded detail on the thighs, against the deep indigo hue. Naturally they pair perfectly with a black merino turtleneck, patchwork poncho, and the addition of a hobo bag.
Both gems, the booties and jeans, were found and shipped (1-day, of course) via Zappos. By now, I’m sure it is no secret that I do A LOT of shopping with Zappos, I’m constantly on the app to check the new arrivals. And while I occasionally have to take advantage of the free 365-day return policy, I know that it will be easy to find a replacement or upgrade in style.
