Most of you are familiar with SheaMoisture's amazing body products, I religiously use the lotions from season to season to keep my skin moisturized and glowing. But, what you might not have known is that their hair care products are just as amazing. Sure, you'd expect it from their natural and certified organic ingredients but after giving them a whirl you might never go back to your other shampoo and conditioners again. Trust me, they just won't live up.
So, when SheaMoisture asked me to head over to Walmart and stock up on some new hair products for the fall and winter season I was completely up to the task, especially when it came to swooping up the Raw Shea Butter Hair collection. You can find SheaMoisture in the General Market Hair Care Aisle. Truth time, my hair needs some major TLC after this past summer, between the constant sun exposure and a few dips in chlorine filled pools, in addition to the usual heat styling, my hair has been looking and feeling dry and frizzy. It's not great, especially at a time where I need to transition my hair to a much colder time of the year. This time around, I'm all for opting for 'heavier' ingredients like shea butter to protect my hair from the elements and any potential damage. Check out my favorites below.
What I Love About It: Like SheaMoisture's other products, it's free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, propylene glycol, mineral oil and animal testing. I personally love that it's color safe and I don't have to worry about fading or drying out my color. The scent isn't overpowering and a little bit goes a long way. I use a dollop about the size of a quarter on my hair length and it seems to get the job done. Aside from the amazing moisture from the Shea butter it also has Argan Oil to help restore shine and rebuild hair elasticity, as well as Sea Kelp for mineral-rich nutrition to seal and smooth hair cuticles. My hair immediately felt softer and smoother post shower. It's suggested that you use it with the SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Moisture Restorative Condition with Sea Kelp and Argan Oil (10.3 oz) but I stepped it up by using the SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque.
What I Love About It: First off, I am obsessed with deep conditioning treatments. I usually use them 2-3 times a week to keep my hair from looking completely fried, and this one completely does it for me. I use it right after shampooing my hair and leave it on for the duration of my shower, usually 15 minutes or so. Another great option is leaving it on for around 30 minutes with a shower cap while you catch up last night's tv selections on the dvr. Rinse and style as usual. Real talk: my hair was immediately visibly smoother and hydrated. It's clearly a godsend for transitioning and repairing my hair for winter.
