Blood Orange Mimosa With Campari

For me, I love a good cocktail inspiration. Honestly, who can resist a story behind a drink?

I am currently loving Campari’s short film, The Legend of Red Hand- it’s the latest installment of Campari Red Diaries, an annual series of short films focused on the notion that “every cocktail tells a story”. Aside from the cocktails, the fashion scorches the screen with vivid reds and blush tones on the stunning Zoe Saldana who plays Mia Parc, a charismatic photographer in pursuit of the perfect cocktail. Naturally, the glamour doesn’t stop at the edge of the screen, with Zoe lighting up the red carpet with a fiery Alberta Ferretti red satin gown at the premiere of the film in Milan. Gorgeous!

Drawing inspiration from the on-screen styles and Zoe’s premiere gown I wanted to create a drink that emulated her old Hollywood style but was easy to craft for a viewing party and/or brunch with friends.

Thus, my Blood Orange Mimosa with Campari was born: A spin on a classic with pops of flavor and color. Also, it’s an instant crowd pleaser. Everyone loves mimosas.

When creating the drink I kept in mind the fiery gowns silhouette as the base and chose these coupe glasses to serve it up in style.

Next, the ingredients. Aside from Proscecco and Campari, I wanted to include another Italian favorite. So what better choice than San Pellegrino Blood Orange Sparkling Beverage as a substitute for orange juice? Garnish with orange twists and serve!

What You Need (Serves 2):

1 oz. Campari
3 oz. Proscecco
8oz. Blood Orange Sparkling Beverage or Blood Orange Italian Soda

Optional: Orange Twists

In a shaker combine 1 oz. Campari & 8 Oz. Blood Orange Sparkling Beverage.

Give it a little shake.

Fill your coupe glasses half full with Proscecco and top with Campari / Blood Orange Mixture.

Garnish with Orange Twist.
How do you Campari?
