Give me a reason to entertain and I guarantee you I'll jump right on it! So, when my birthday was rounding the corner I thought it was the perfect time to invite some friends over for a mini-celebration of adding another year to the marks. Since it was my birthday, I wasn't feeling up to the task of creating everything from scratch so I enlisted the help of Harry and David to make my life a lot easier.
Turns out, Harry and David isn't just gourmet gifts and baskets anymore, they now offer so much more. Enter, Harry and David Gourmet Food and Wine, distinctive gourmet food created for everyday occasions with elegance and ease. Whether it's a savory side-dish, dessert or an entire decadent spread, Harry and David has everything you need with over 200 premium products to serve, savor and share. Pricing ranges from $10-$400, giving customers the opportunity to design an occasion tailored to their budget.
I'm personally a fan of the new Harry and David Sparkling Wine made with a unique blend of four varietals grown in Southern Oregon. It's great alone, or in my case, as the base for birthday mimosas. Cheers and cheers!
Now, let's talk about this spread! I wanted an offering of both sweet and savory dishes. I'm personally a sweet-n-savory-brunch kind of girl but I can't resist a good frittata, which is always a crowd favorite. Which is why I opted for The Gourmet Ham and Turkey Brunch, which included a sampler of premium sliced ham and turkey as well as three-cheese scalloped potatoes, an artichoke, mushroom and bacon frittata and of course something sweet: lemon poppyseed coffee cake. In addition, I created a cheese charcuterie board with the Beehive Company Cheese Sampler and finished with the Sun-dried Tomato and Truffle Macaroni and Cheese, which was the real crowd-pleaser of the bunch. Mmm.
After creating the menu, I sent over my order and everything arrived within two-days. It was flawlessly packed in two boxes with dry ice. I promptly put everything in the freezer until the brunch celebration arrived. I want to start by saying that I'm a big fan of with how easy everything was to put together. The food comes packaged in oven-ready trays and you just pop them into the preheated the oven for about an hour each. With the exception of the ham and turkey (that only need about 20 minutes) it's already fully cooked and just needs heating up, and the glaze added, if desired.
Once everything is ready you can choose to keep them in the trays or move them into serveware - it's entirely up to you! I opted for serveware because I was entertaining and I wanted everything to be as aesthetically pleasing as possible for the occasion. However, if you opt to leave them in the trays it makes for a quick and easy cleanup (no dishes here!).
So, did it live up to the hype? YEP! It made celebrating the occasion and entertaining so much easier, and would absolutely recommend it if you're entertaining this holiday season. Harry and David Gourmet is also a great gift idea. Think: bringing a Wolferman's® Lemon Poppyseed Coffee Cake to your next get-together or send a meal to friends and family! Get creative and have some fun putting together a menu or gift basket.
