10 months later my glorified closet/designated junk drop off zone is a functional office space!
Holy moly, that took forever! This room has been a thorn in my side since we moved into our place in November. Sure it had great bones, a nice sized closet and a good chunk of space. However, the lighting situation was less than ideal with a single window facing right into our neighbors wall - so the little natural light we do get is for about an hour a day in the summer. It was discouraging at first, so I put the task of making my office functional completely on the back burner. It has spent the better part of a year as a drop off zone for overflowing laundry bags, packages, random household items and finally the resting place for our old dining room table and sofa.
After a couple of coats of paint and the impending start of the remote year set the wheels in motion to finally get the space into gear so both the kids and myself had a designated area to work everyday. The soft hued Baby Soft pink paint (Clare) was great but I had bigger things in mind when it came to making our dark cave-like room pop!
Enter Limitless Walls. They reached out about a month ago offering to helped me custom create a (removable) accent wall mural for the space. HOLY MOLY! I could not be more happy with how much it completely brightened and added depth to the room. I would go as far to say that it made it look even bigger. Bonus: All of their peel and stick materials are completely non-toxic: PVC-free, phthalate-free, low-VOC, and use water-based inks.
For me, I picked a Tropical Chinoiserie Print to pop off from the soft hued walls. I was able to customize the color to a lighter shade of pink that nearly matches the walls to they fit together seamlessly. They sent over a small sample to approve and make a final decision and once I saw it on the walls things were set in motion. The entire mural arrived about a week later in three huge panels matching the measurements of the wall. The panels are thick canvas material which made installation nearly flawless. It took a couple of hours start to finish and the end result is pretty amazing if you ask me..
To finalize the space (for now), I opted for a burnt orange couch cover of our Ikea Klippan to hold me over until we find the perfect seating for the room. I personally love these colors together. I hung a few pictures and detail and voila! A whole new room...worth the 10 months of waiting...
